New Delhi: Travellers from India may soon be able to fly to South Africa, Madagascar, and Reunion on a single ticket, as Air India and Air Mauritius announced an expanded codeshare agreement on Monday.

The strengthened bilateral partnership will see both airlines place their designator codes on 17 routes connecting India, Mauritius, Reunion, South Africa, and Madagascar, according to a joint release. What the new codeshare covers “Air India will place its ‘AI’ designator code on Air Mauritius flights to and from Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, and Antananarivo in Madagascar,” the statement said. Air India already shares codes on Air Mauritius flights between Mauritius and Mumbai, Delhi, and Reunion.
